Italy limits the installation of solar panels on agricultural land. The new rules are part of a wider package of measures to protect agriculture and fisheries and include a ban on installing photovoltaic systems in areas classified as agricultural. The scheme does not target Agri-PV projects, where solar panels are installed high above fields and vineyards to take dual advantage of the land, producing energy while allowing crops to grow. The new restrictions would not jeopardize the government’s goal of installing about 38 gigawatts (GW) of capacity by 2030 through solar power plants.
